A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
Literally built into the foothills surrounding Prescott, our community offers spectacular views of Granite Mountain and downtown, along with breathtaking sunsets. The interior of our building is equally beautiful, with open vaulted ceilings that take full advantage of the natural High Desert light. Numerous balconies give residents many opportunities to enjoy the surrounding scenery. Best of all, while we look like an upscale resort hotel, The Peridot feels like home the moment you step through our doors. A large part of this comes from our residents, who are exceptionally friendly, welcoming and active – 30 percent still drive! Many have called The Peridot home for several years – and in fact, residents can choose to retire here, then remain in the same apartment even if their health needs change. We simply bring assisted living services to them. Everything combined – close proximity to charming downtown Prescott, spectacular scenery and wonderful desert weather, a beautiful facility, active residents and a dedicated, compassionate staff – makes The Peridot a one-of-a-kind community that wraps all who come to live here in warmth, grace and comfort.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
The Peridot sponsors monthly educational programs for our residents and the community-at-large to which local physicians are invited to speak on topics of interest to seniors. In addition, every month we hold some kind of special event. For example, at Christmastime, we had a holiday tea during which certified appraisers from local auction houses came into our community. Residents and their families were welcome to bring in jewelry, china, tea sets or other family heirlooms to have them appraised. And every Thursday, we have a non-alcoholic Happy Hour with entertainment open to the public. On other occasions, we have had wine tastings to which many people from Prescott have attended. The Peridot also joins together with the Yavapai Food Bank to help families in need, especially around the holidays. In addition, our Dining Services Director conducts cooking classes at our local senior center.
We at The Peridot believe integration in the community is vital for our residents well being. We offer outings to special events in the community and special events within the community. In addition, The Peridot is a member of The Prescott Chamber of Commerce, which organizes many events in the area to which we often attend. At Christmastime, we decorate our bus for the holidays and join the Chamber’s Christmas parade, and our staff routinely attends Chamber socials and mixers.
Fine Dining
Our spacious dining room has a full wall mural featuring unique local views, as well as large windows and exposed wood beams. The room itself is almost two stories high, with windows along the top to bring in the beautiful desert light. In this wonderful setting, residents get together three times a day for meals. All meals are served restaurant style, with our main meal served at lunch. Both lunch and dinner offer a salad bar, soup and juice bar to start. Our residents tell us that our food is outstanding – perhaps that’s because it’s home-style cooking, with pot roast, fried chicken, liver and onions, Salisbury steak, crab cakes, baked tilapia, to name just a few of our most popular selections. Breakfast is made to order; residents can order what they’d like – easy-over eggs, pancakes, waffles – and there’s always fruit, cereal and hot oatmeal offered. Snacks and beverages are available in the front lobby throughout the day, including fresh-baked cookies.
