Phoenix Senior Living Community

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Chris Ridge employs four full-time Life Enrichment Directors, who are responsible for planning and overseeing our activities program. With such a wonderful dedicated staff, there is always something going on at our community – often, there are several activities planned during the same time frame. Residents can choose from a variety of exercise programs, including Tai Chi, yoga, Zumba, water aerobics and chair dancing. We offer all kinds of arts and crafts, from baking and sewing to seasonal crafts. In our cinema, we show new movies – selected by residents – as well as major television shows, from the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving to sporting events.

Chris Ridge also sponsors many major themed events to which family and the community-at-large is welcome. Jewish holidays, October Fest, a Summer Night in Venice, during which Italian food was served while a violinist strolled around entertaining residents, and an International Festival are just a few of the many themed dinners we have held.

Often, our own talented residents put on variety shows, which are directed by one of our Life Enrichment Directors. And of course, every major holiday is celebrated in true Chris Ridge style – with great food, family, friends and entertainment!

Should a resident not find something on our calendar that they wish to do, they can always take full advantage of the ongoing activities provided through the Jewish Family and Children’s Services senior center, located right here on campus.

Partnering With the Local Neighborhood Community

As you can imagine, Chris Ridge is an integral part of the North Phoenix area and as such, we sponsor many outside groups, including the Phoenix scrabble group, the Ostomy support group and a special group for the family members of loved ones who have Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. Chris Ridge also actively supports local senior centers, for example, providing food for major events. And many of our residents get involved with several of the local food banks, helping organize food drives throughout the year.

Our community also hosts a wide range of lectures and educational programs given by outside experts, from current events to a world’s religion program.

Fine Dining

Our independent residents are served meals in our main dining room, which looks exactly like a fine dining restaurant, complete with linens and courteous wait staff. Each meal offers four courses, starting with a choice of soup or salad, two entrees, plus one selection featuring fish each day; a choice of sides and a delicious dessert. Continental breakfast is served in our café on Main Street, which offers casual fare throughout the day.

Assisted living residents have their own dining room, where they are served three meals each day. Our menu includes 21 different entrees each week. With so much choice, residents can have something completely different every day of the month if they so choose. We also honor virtually any special dietary need, from mechanical soft to thickened liquids. In addition, we can modify our recipes to build calorie content in a nutritional way, helping support the needs of residents with weight-loss issues.

Our memory care community has its own dining room, where the menu is the same as Assisted Living, with the addition of many easy-to-handle finger foods. Their meals are served on brightly colored plates, making it easier for them to distinguish the food from the plate. The daily menu also includes a structured snack program – often choices they may remember from their childhood – peanut butter on crackers, gram crackers, for example – to help trigger pleasant memories.

We offer a tray service to our skilled nursing residents, with meals made to reflect doctor’s orders. Our full-time dietician keeps careful track of each resident’s dietary restrictions, as well as tries to support each resident’s individual dietary preferences.
