Brain injury program

The Emeritus brain injury program at our Amber Oaks community in San Antonio, Texas is breaking new ground by offering adults with disabilities and survivors of head injuries the rehabilitation and supportive environment they need to adjust to a new way of life.

Our specialists in brain trauma carefully assess the functional status, neurological and psychological needs of the residents in this program. Then, they develop a plan of therapy to help residents integrate slowly into their families' lives and the outside community.

We call this our integrative living strategy and it includes...

  • supervised skill building techniques
  • a high concentration on relearning daily activities skills
  • guidance with decision making skills
  • daily direction with physical, cognitive and behavioral impairments
  • weekly care team reviews
  • monthly assessments
  • monitored behavioral management and intervention
  • 24-hour onsite staff and nursing access

If brain injury survivors are unable to return to their previous living environment, they have a permanent home with us.
